ACHIEVEMENTS

Achievements:

Started Nampa Police Tactical Response Team in 1982. This was the third police SWAT team certified in Idaho. The team has progressed to one of the most advanced teams in the Northwest.

Started the Nampa P.D. Canine Unit in 1987.

Certified as a Canine instructor in 1991.

Currently training all dogs for Nampa Police.

State of Idaho Post Certified Canine Evaluator.

Assigned to the Utah Olympic Public Safety Command for 2002 Winter Olympic Games. During this assignment Rick worked with officers from State, Local and Federal agencies to provide security for the Winter Olympics.

Supervised the Nampa P.D. Firearms Program for over 20 years. During that time Rick led the department through the many firearms changes including:
1. Change-over from .38 cal. Revolvers to .357 cal.
Revolvers in 1977.
2. Change-over from revolvers to semi-automatic
pistols in 1988.
3. Began Patrol Rifle Program in 2000.
4. Conversion to Glock pistols in 2003.

Certified Police Instructor:
1. Firearms: Handguns and Shotguns.
2. Police Dogs: Patrol and Detector.
3. Special Weapons and Tactics: Qualified as an expert
witness in Federal court on all Police Tactics subjects.


Hobbies:

Personal Fitness: Running and weightlifting. Charter member of the Nampa Rec Center.

Canine Training for Sport, Personal Protection, Police, Schutzhund and Agility.

Restoring vintage 4x4 vehicles. Current projects include 1966 Toyota FJ40 and 1980 Toyota FJ40.

Spending time at our family cabin in McCall.

Hiking, mountain biking, skiing, and enjoying the outdoors.

Watching college and NFL football. BSU and Oakland Raiders fan.

Coaching Nampa Youth Football.

Centennial Job Corps Community Advisory Board.

Public Canine demonstrations for schools and civic organizations.
